Transporting Animals from Iceland to Germany via Ferry

Pets cannot be brought to and from Iceland.

Pets may only be brought from Denmark to the Faroe Islands in summer if the stay exceeds three months and under special import regulations. Smyril Line recommends that passengers contact the local authorities before travelling. Check local import rules at hfs.fo. 

Pet transport is subject to a supplementary charge, is at the owner’s own risk, and follows special regulations agreed with Smyril Line.

Pets are not allowed in the cabins. Violations incur a DKK 3,000 / EUR 405 cleaning fee.

When travelling with pets, a cage must be booked together with the ticket. The cages are numbered – 1–4 for small cages and 5–6 for large cages. Upon boarding, please collect the cage keys at reception. A deposit of DKK 200 is required and refunded upon return of the keys.

Large cages measure 80 cm (W) x 115 cm (H) x 130 cm (D).
Small cages measure 80 cm (W) x 55 cm (H) x 130 cm (D).

Route Information

The ferry operates between Denmark, the Faroe Islands, and Iceland. It does not travel directly between Iceland and Germany.

Reservations

We regret to inform you that reservations cannot be made in advance for this particular route. However, you can secure a spot on the ferry by simply arriving at the port before departure time.

To book meals for your journey from Iceland to Germany via ferry, please contact the onboard restaurant or cafeteria. Specify your travel dates and preferred dining option. Keep in mind that certain restaurants may have limited availability due to high demand.

Stopover Details

If you plan to disembark from the ferry during a stopover at Thorshavn on April 27th, 2024 (for one week), please note that this information is applicable during off-peak seasons only.
