MULTIPLE VIN RECORDS ON FILE
Why do I get MULTIPLE VIN RECORDS ON FILE?
POSSIBLE REASON:
The DMV currently has multiple records (plates) for this VIN.
SOLUTION:
1. Change Locate By to PLATE
2. Check Subplate and resubmit.
3. Change the plate reason to "Retain by Owner," and resubmit
4. Check the KSR and enter the plate number from the prior record, then resubmit.
If DMV returns a Q017 error, please take to a field office for processing
