How do you process a lease buyout with Personal plates?

To reassign a special plate, follow these steps:

1.) Go to the eFile screen and select "Plate with owner" at the bottom.

2.) Choose "Reassign" from the drop-down menu and fill out the necessary fields.

3.) Click "Review," but don't worry if you receive a Q152 error - simply click "Go Back."

4.) Change the drop-down menu to "Retain" and click "Review" again.

The system will calculate the fees and retain the plates, although there may be an assignment fee charged in error due to a BPA programming issue.

If the dealership doesn't want to pay this fee, they will need to submit the request to SPU or DMV.
