What transactions types can be cleared through DMVdesk

  • Initial New and Used
  • Post Fee (New, Used, Non Resident) Cannot post if fees have already been posted on
  • Re-Submit new and used originally posted by dealer (Cannot efile anything with a Z96)
  • Leases –You cannot extend the name when there are 2 lessees, send to a field office
  • Miscellaneous Originals
  • Golden Rods
  • Multiple Vin records
  • Lease Buyouts (Message box appears for lease buyout confirmation)
  • Repos (Repos must have fees posted within 60 days to avoid penalties)
  • Title/Transfer Only (CA only, should not process out of state leases)
  • Rollbacks (New, Used & Non Resident) Must post on all deliveries
  • Non Resident Clear (For M/C’s only post fees are able to be processed)
  • New and Used with Indian Exemption
  • Non Resident Military – as of January 2020, these exemptions can no longer be processed via efile, unless the item is an Used Car and registration is current and not due within 75 days.

  • Special Plates:

o   *Disabled Person –if the “DP” is the beginning of the configuration, a normal plate must be issued first before the reassignment can happen.

o   Disabled Veteran (When completing a transfer that previously had DV plates assigned, you will need to select “Sticker Year” and enter the current calendar year)

o   Arts

o   Coastal Commission

o   Press Photographer

o   *Purple Heart

o   Pink Plates

*You can be disabled and have a Purple Heart. Purple Heart does qualify for the exception; however these items must be keyed in the field office. A placard cannot be assigned to a vehicle.

*DP plates can go on a commercial vehicle and are exempt from the weight fees only up to 8000 lbs. unladen weight.
