Analyzing Errors: Common Mistakes in Writing
What is wrong with one of the errors listed?
Resolving Error: Co-Buyer Omitted in Transaction
One common error that may occur during a transaction is when the co-buyer is omitted. This means that there should have been a second buyer included, but only one buyer was e-filed. To correct this error, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Request Paper Title
If the transaction was paperless, you will need to request the paper title from the appropriate authority.
Step 2: Submit Statement of Facts
If it is paperless, submit Reg 227 sections 1, 2, and 3 along with a statement of facts explaining the omission of the co-buyer.
Step 3: Complete Required Forms
In addition to submitting the above documents, you will still need to complete and send the following forms:
- DMV 14: Form for correcting errors on registration information.
- Reg 101: Form required for addressing errors on the back of title.
Note:
A statement of facts should also be included with your submission explaining that while the e-file is correct, there were errors in document preparation regarding omitting the co-buyer.
By following these steps and ensuring all necessary forms are completed accurately and submitted promptly, you can resolve any issues related to an omitted co-buyer in a transaction efficiently.
