Guide to E-Signing DMV Paperwork and Form 262

E-signing DMV paperwork, including automatic form 262, requires access to the Digital Signature feature. If you do not currently have this access, follow the steps below to enable it.

Requesting Access to Digital Signature Feature

1. Contact Your Administrator: Reach out to an Administrator at your dealership.
2. Submit a Request: Ask them to send a request for adding the Digital Signature feature to your user account.
3. Await Approval: Once the request is submitted and approved, you will gain access to e-sign documents using the Digital Signature feature.

Add Digital Signature Role

If you need e-signature capabilities specifically for form 262, ensure that your user profile includes the Digital Signature role. Follow these steps:

1. Email Your Admin: Have your administrator send an email request to [email protected] asking for this role addition.
2. Acknowledge Confirmation: After approval, check that your DMVdesk user account has been updated accordingly.
3. E-Sign Documents: You will then be able to utilize digital signatures on relevant forms like Reports of Sales and Reg 262's.

Simplifying Title Transfers with Reg 262

If both the registered owner and new buyer have already signed off on the title transfer, there is no need for a Reg 262 form. However, if any signatures or ownership chains require documentation via Reg 262 during submission for a conforming title, make sure it’s included in your paperwork package.

E-Signing from Anywhere

You can use an e-sign machine or complete DMV paperwork digitally even when customers are out of town. Ensure correct contact information (email and phone number) is provided so buyers receive notifications regarding their digital signature requests promptly. Once they complete signing electronically, everything will be processed smoothly without needing physical presence at your location.
