Restoring Your Vehicle to Like-New Condition
HOW DO I MAKE IT A NEW VEHICLE AGAIN?
Guide to Handling Incorrectly Reported Vehicles
If you find yourself needing to make your vehicle new again due to an incorrect report, follow these steps carefully.
Step 1: Gather Necessary Documents
You will need the following documents:
- The original title of the vehicle.
- REG477 Dealer Statement of Facts for Non Delivery: This form needs to be completed accurately.
- ADM399 Form: Fill this out for any fees that were previously paid.
Step 2: Utilize Available Resources
For detailed guidance on processing incorrectly reported vehicles, refer to the Checklist for Incorrectly Reported Vehicles. This resource is available in DMV Desk's Dashboard and outlines all required documents and where they should be submitted for processing. Ensure that you mark each item as completed before proceeding.
Step 3: Update Your Records
Once you've gathered all necessary documentation, update your records on the Deals Page by marking it as an Incorrectly Reported Vehicle. This keeps your information organized and up-to-date.
P35 Procedure for Fee Reversal
If there are posted fees associated with the vehicle sale, these can be reversed through a P35 procedure. This process allows you to lift those fees from your record and receive a refund. After completing this step, the vehicle can then be sold again as if it were brand new.
Please Note:
- The new owner must smog the vehicle again after two years in accordance with dealer requirements.
- The gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) for vehicles registered under code 4008 falls between 10,000 and 15,000 lbs.
Additonal Fees Information
The registration fee remains consistent across both new and used vehicles; however, factors such as dealer inventory dates or expiration dates may influence additional fees applicable to used vehicles.
