When faced with a lengthy primary name that cannot fit into the e-file system, consider these strategies:

• Abbreviate: Shorten titles such as "PROFESSIONAL" to "PROF."
• Remove Spaces: Eliminate unnecessary spaces between words.
• Cuts and Condensation: If needed, cut down on vowels or other characters while ensuring that any changes align with what’s on the registration statement.

Please note that since this involves a lease transaction, some modifications are permissible within DMV character limits. However, be aware that further condensation may occur during processing by DMV due to their own restrictions.

Submitting Name Corrections

You can submit corrections even if there are issues with name length. The following procedures will help you navigate this process smoothly:

Email Submission

The SPU (Service Processing Unit) accepts submissions despite long names. Should you require additional assistance, do not hesitate to reach out for support.

Create a Work Order

If you're correcting misspelled names or making title adjustments:

1. Create a Work Order in your system.
2. Select 'Used' in the logbook (Deals Page).
3. You can leave both RS field and odometer field blank; input any value for sale price as it serves only record correction purposes.

You can send paperwork directly to SPU or your local field office using REG 256 for name statements. The DMV does not impose charges for name changes when submitted through them.
